freeNCAA09rosters.com FAQ 22 June 2008

Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions from around the NCAA Football Gaming Community:

Q: When can I get the rosters?
A: At the latest, expect them 10-14 days after the release of the game.  Should people somehow get the game early or work at a break-neck speed, they may be out much sooner.  It takes time to get all names entered quickly, so patience is required from the community.  While everyone wants rosters ASAP, we all want accuracy as well.

Q: What’s the easiest way to get rosters?
A: New to NCAA 09 (PS3/360) is the EA Locker.  Gamers can download rosters in-game and directly to their console from their friends or from any XBL/PSN account.

Q: How can I get the rosters if my console isn’t hooked up online:
A: For PS3, you can use a USB flash drive and get the file off of the web.  You can buy a 1 GB USB flash drive for as low as $10 off amazon.com or walmart.com.

For the 360, you can use an XSata or Xchange 360 to place the files on a memory card from your computer and load that into your Xbox 360.

For the PS2, you can mail in your memory card.  (There are devices you can use to get the rosters from the web to your memory card, however some only work with certain models of the PS2 and some devices ruin the disc drive of the system.)

Q: Do I have to have an Xbox 360 Gold Account?
A: Yes, but you still have options.  If you have a friend with a Gold account and a memory card, just load up the rosters on your friend’s Xbox and load them onto your console.  If that doesn’t work you can use the XSata or Xchange listed in the options above.  However if you do have internet connectivity, but no memory card, the cheapest option would be to just buy a 1 month Xbox Live Gold Card for $9.99 and download the rosters.  You might even squeak a few online games in.

Q: So, what’s the deal?  I see that the rosters are free here, but cost money elsewhere.  Does that mean the ones linked here aren’t as good?
A: No, not at all.  The only files linked here are ones of the highest quality.  The guys who work on them spend lots of time double and triple checking for accuracy.  They are free because the guys who make them care about the community and not their pocketbooks.  This is a labor of love.  Charging for rosters is an NCAA violation, as they are profiting off of player likenesses.

Q: What gamertag/PSN ID do I need to search for in the EA Locker?
A: We will have a full listing of gamertags/PSN IDs hosting the file once the file is nearly complete.  Right now, ncaaStrategies is one account confirmed to be hosting the file on EA Locker.

Q: What can I do to help?
A: Tell all your friends about freeNCAA09rosters.com.  Here you will be able to find links to FREE NCAA 09 rosters for the 360, PS3, and PS2.  (No word yet if the PSP or Wii version will support rosters or if anyone will be working on them.  Stay tuned.)

Q: OK - When can I expect the rosters?
A: It depends on when guys get the game and remember - the guys working on them take their time to make sure they are doing a good job.  We will post updates once the process begins.

As of now, there is no word of if the Wii or PSP will allow rosters.
